King Edward Arts Hub

arts & culture

Calgary, Alberta

The King Edward School site in south Calgary was purchased by cSpace in 2012 for the development of a multi-disciplinary ‘hub’ facility based three key platforms: The Creative Commons is the backbone of the facility and will include leasable office, production, showcase and creation spaces. The Learning Commons is the connective tissue of the building’s working communities and will feature flexible meeting and collaboration rooms, social and gathering spaces, and leading-edge networking capabilities. The Community Commons is envisioned in the outdoor space, and will include residential uses, amenities, and public spaces supporting the incubator vision of cSpace. The project will see the restoration and re-use of the 1912 historic sandstone King Edward School, reinterpreted as a new community arts hub. FWBA Architects is completing this work under the partnership of NFWBA Architects.
