Chinook Regional Hospital - Way-finding and Flooring Replacement
FWBA was contracted by Alberta Health Services to replace the corridor flooring on three levels of the Chinook Regional Hospital, integrating way-finding into the design through coloured flooring, bulkheads and walls. Accent strips in the flooring visually direct people to different areas of the hospital once off the elevator and directional signage in the same colourways and shapes are installed on the glazing adjacent to the elevator for overall concept cohesiveness. Care was taken not to drastically interfere with hospital operations and visitor navigation through the construction and installation of the flooring and way-finding elements by installing the materials in phases. The result is a much clearer way-finding system that visitors find simple to follow, as well as an overall more attractive enhancement of the hospital corridors.
