Lethbridge Recovery Community
health care
County of Lethbridge, AB
Modelled after the Red Deer Recovery Community, the Lethbridge Recovery Community accommodates a male population with 50 treatment beds in a new, 33,000 sq. ft. wood-constructed building. The facility provides a supportive environment for individuals transitioning from addiction to sobriety. As a place that supports the care and well-being of the residents in shared or private sleeping rooms, the facility also includes a doctor’s office, examination room, multiple group therapy rooms, gathering spaces, dining areas, and recreational spaces, all designed to offer essential medical support, encourage healthy social interaction, and promote physical activity.
Developed in collaboration with MPE Engineering and Synergy Projects, the project prioritized creating a homelike atmosphere rather than an institutional feel. Interior spaces were designed for comfort, with minimal distracting patterns. Clerestory windows enhance natural light in larger gathering areas, while windows in smaller spaces provide views and comfort for residents. To expedite the construction timeline, modular construction was employed, allowing building and site work to progress simultaneously, reducing waste and improving efficiency. This approach enabled the support services to become operational in a timely manner.
