St. Teresa Place

seniors care , residential

Calgary, Alberta

St. Teresa Place is a 250 bed continuing care facility in Northeast Calgary. This modern design is innovative both in terms of facility layout, size and construction. LEAN schematic design for the facility determined the most efficient layout of space relationships, while ensuring varied private and intimate spaces for the residents. Although a large facility, each resident lives in smaller neighbourhoods of 12 and take meals communally in dining rooms and engage in activities at various amenity spaces. Structural precast concrete construction enabled a durable and attractive building to be completed within two years. Efficient lot utilization means the facility is planned with generous diverse landscape of fruit and vegetable gardens, intended to become an asset to the Redstone community. Covenant Care intends for this facility to be both an exemplary facility in the province for providing excellence in seniors care and as a focal point in the community as a welcoming environment for the entire neighbourhood.

“Our approach with a new Supportive Living Community in Redstone was to build with full precast concrete. The Consultant team lead by FWBA worked with the Contractor as a cooperative and creative team. This has resulted in a striking new home for the care of elderly in an efficient, innovative and cost-effective durable building. The bright, airy and colourful modern interiors are particularly well-received by staff, residents and their families.”
